Collection: Routine venipuncture, SST (serum separator tube)

Storage Instructions: Centrifuge and store at 2-8°C.

Causes for Rejection: Lipemia, gross hemolysis, bacterial contamination

Availability: Samples are accepted 24 hours per day at Sample Management, 5.136 McCullough.

Turnaround Time: Test performed twice or more per week.

Special Instructions: Previously positive patients do not require further testing. If the patient has no detectable antibody, it is recommended to wait two weeks before testing again. Tests on samples collected less than two weeks from the initial results will be canceled unless approved by a Microbiology Director or designee.
