Lab: Molecular Diagnostics Laboratory

Request Form: See Electronic Lab Requisition or Molecular Diagnostics Lab Requisition form

Collection: Cervical collection using Digene collection kit available through UTMB Materials Management; or Cervical sample collected using SurePath collection kit also acceptable.

Storage Instructions: Submit specimen in Digene transport medium: Ambient: 2 weeks; Refrigerated: 3 weeks; Frozen: 3 months; or submit specimen in SurePath transport medium: Ambient and Refrigerated: 1 month; Frozen: Unacceptable.                                                                

Causes for Rejection: Collection not utilizing Digene or SurePath Collection Kit

Availability: Samples are received 24 hours per day at UTMB Sample Management, Room 5.136 McCullough. Samples may be delivered Monday-Friday, 7:00 AM - 4:00 PM to Molecular Diagnostics Laboratory, Room 5.190 John Sealy Annex.

Special Instructions: Submit one specimen in either Digene transport meduim or SurePath transport meduim . Do not combine collections, please submit separate specimen for High Risk HPV testing.
