Collection: Routine venipuncture

Storage Instructions: Centrifuge the specimen, remove plasma from red cells, protect plasma from light and refrigerate.  Shipping Instructions

Causes for Rejection: Sample not protected from light; sample hemolyzed or contaminated with red cells.

Availability: Samples are accepted 24 hours per day at Sample Management, 5.136 McCullough or from 8 AM-5 PM, Monday-Friday at Room 3.102, Ewing Hall.

Turnaround Time: Routine; test is performed weekly.

Specimen: Whole blood or Plasma

Volume: 5 mL

Minimum Volume: 0.5 mL

Container: Green top tube (heparin)

Reference Range: 0 – 0.9 mg/dL
