Test Includes: Gross and microscopic
examination with diagnosis.
Applies To: Small muscle tissue specimens for diagnosis of neuromuscular disease. Lab: Surgical Pathology Request Form: Surgical Pathology Laboratory Tissue Consultation (Requisition Form 86) Collection: Page the neuropathologist on call prior to surgery. See special instructions. Storage Instructions: Tissue must be submitted immediately. Tissue must not be immersed in saline or formalin. See special instructions. Causes for Rejection: See special instructions. Availability: Deliver to Surgical Pathology Laboratory, Room 2.186, John Sealy Annex, Monday-Friday, 7:30 AM-4:00 PM. After hours page the neuropathologist on call. Turnaround Time: 3-5 days, depending on procedures required. Special Instructions: Obtain detailed instructions from Surgical Pathology or Neuropathology Specimen: Skeletal Muscle Volume: See special instructions. Minimum Volume: See special instructions.
