Bob Skaggs, Market Research Manager
Bob Skaggs is the Market Research Manager for UTMB's Marketing department and has global responsibility for the gathering and dissemination of market analysis and market intelligence within the institution. His position is responsible for assuring market research services and deliverables provide high quality decision-making support to executive leadership and departments engaged in market outreach and revenue generation. Bob has an extensive background in planning and analysis, including operations analysis, operations redesign and strategic planning. After Hurricane Ike, Bob reestablished and reinvented the market research function to pursue more targeted and in depth analysis of market data and the expanded use of visual analytics.
Bob’s previous positions at UTMB include Consultant Analyst, Director of Consulting and Development Services, Director of Management Engineering and Analysis, and Management Analyst. Prior to his career at UTMB he was an administrator for faculty group practices in Radiology and Ophthalmology. He was also Manager of Insurance Billing for Memorial Hospital System (now Memorial Hermann Health System) in Houston, Texas.
Mr. Skaggs has a strong commitment to community service. In 1999 Texas governor George W. Bush appointed him to the State Policy Committee for the State Employee Charitable Campaign program where he served until 2004. He is currently a member of the Galveston Local Employee Committee for the SECC campaign. Skaggs participated in the Quality Texas Foundation's board of examiners for the 2000 Texas Award for Performance Excellence. He served as board Vice President of Planning for the United Way of Galveston and a member of the board of directors for the United Ways of Texas state association. In 2005 Bob received the Frank Jackson Award for outstanding community service from the United Way of Galveston for his leadership in planning and implementing their Community Investment initiative.
Bob holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Natural Sciences from the University of Texas at Austin and a Master of Education degree in Educational Technology from the University of Texas at Brownsville. He also has a certification in strategic management from the American Management Association. Bob is a member of the association of Strategic and Competitive Intelligence Professionals and the American Marketing Association.
