Volunteers: Opportunities

New and experienced Public Health Volunteers are invited to participate in interactive, web-based trainings being launched during Summer 2008. Sessions will include video clips, classroom-style instruction, and games, all of which give volunteers an opportunity to increase their knowlege and response experience from the comfort of their homes or offices.

UTMB Montgomery County Health Department still offers traditional, classroom-based trainings for organizations interested in learning about the Strategic National Stockpile and Point of Dispensing Operations. The Department will bring training to your location if you and a group of 10-15 individuals are interested in participating.

Introductory POD trainings, designed for new Public Health Volunteers, will outline the concepts of the Strategic National Stockpile, of POD operations and of various volunteer job roles. Attendees will gain a thorough understanding of POD functions and job roles as well as hands-on experience through a POD operation simulation.

Advanced POD trainings are designed for Public Health Volunteers who have a thorough understanding of POD operations and the SNS and who have participated in mass dispensing exercises. The advanced session will focus on refining operational roles and responsibilities in a POD and will teach participants how to operate a Volunteer POD prior to mass dispensing operations.

All sessions are free and include a boxed lunch. To request a private training, please contact us via one of the following methods:
