Kamitani, Wataru

Kamitani's postdoctoral training in Dr. Makino's laboratory has provided him a valuable opportunity to learn and develop various scientific strategies and research techniques in the field of virus-host interactions. His preliminary studies on SCoV have revealed unique biological functions of two viral proteins. He strongly believe that these studies would provide valuable information towards understanding the interplay of host innate immune response to SCoV infections and its implications on the establishment of the disease pathology. His long term career goal is to become an independent research scientist. Rearch Project: SARS coronavirus-mediated host gene expression control.
