Christof is a student in the department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology and studies under the mentorship of Dr. Alex Kurosky. He is interested in the alarmin HMGB1 and its effects on eosinophil priming and activation, as well as HMGB1's role in allergic airway inflammation. Christof is using HMGB1 inhibitors in conjunction with an in vivo murine model of allergic airway inflammation. Furthermore, he uses proteomic approaches to study the eosinophil's response to HMGB1, as well as how HMGB1 released by eosinophils can affect immune cells involved in asthma pathogenesis.
Christof will graduate with his PhD in May of 2012.
