The University of Texas Medical Branch offers a combined MD-PhD Degree Program for students interested in a career that fuses the biomedical sciences,  clinical sciences, or the medical humanities with the discipline of medicine. The graduate of this Program will feel as much at home at the patient's bedside as in the research laboratory, and will be prepared to embark on a career that focuses on unraveling the causes of disease, or translating advances in biomedical sciences into improved patient care. It is anticipated that the typical student will complete the Program in seven to eight years.
