About the Lab

We use a variety of techniques including Drosophila genetic models to study cellular and molecular mechanisms of neurodegeneration. The lab has successfully developed and deployed models of neurodegenerative disorders including, Huntington′s, Alzheimer′s, Parkinson′s, and Lou Gehrig′s diseases. As a component lab of the George P. and Cynthia Woods Mitchell Center for Neurodegenerative Diseases, we are using a variety of approaches, including single chain antibody transgenes, to develop vaccines for chronic neurodegenerative diseases, including one designed for Alzheimer’s disease targeting oligomeric forms of the microtubule-binding protein tau.
