A Postdoctoral position is available for a scientist with experience in electrophysiological recording techniques, particularly patch-clamp.
The project is concerned with signaling mechanisms in the brain (amygdala) in pain models of neuroplasticity. Specifically, the goal of this project is to determine the role of reactive oxygen species (ROS) and its upstream activators and downstream targets in synaptic plasticity.
The postdoctoral fellow will conduct electrophysiological experiments (patch-clamp recordings in rat brain slices) and behavioral assays (vocalizations of awake rats), analyze and present data, and prepare manuscripts for publication.

Dr. Shao-Jun Tangs laboratory at the Department of Neuroscience and Cell Biology of UTMB has openings for postdoctoral fellows. The research focus for the positions will be the Wnt signaling in normal and disease mammalian brains. Candidates with strength in molecular and cell biology are encouraged to apply.
