| Assistant Professor Dr. Kuniyoshi earned her medical degree
and doctorate degree from the Loma Linda Medical School and Loma
Linda University respectively in Loma Linda, California. She received
her doctorate degree in physiology, investigating the effect of pallidotomy,
a surgical procedure whereby a therapeutic lesion is placed in the
basal ganglia, on postural instability in patients with Parkinson’s
Disease. Currently, she is working with Dr. Greg Bonnen, an accomplished
stereotactic neurosurgeon, to make deep brain stimulation available
to patients with Parkinson’s Disease at UTMB. She completed
her residency in neurology at Case Western Reserve in Cleveland,
Ohio, and a movement disorders fellowship at the Baylor College of
Medicine in Houston, Texas. Dr. Kuniyoshi is an assistant professor
in the UTMB Department of Neurology. |
