Our laboratory utilizes Biophysical and biochemical analyses, cell culture, animal models and human tissues. We constantly develop new methods and reagents. We are working on many exciting projects, listed below; we also work in collaboration with many laboratories at UTMB and other institutions.

Alzheimer’s related projects:

·   Tau oligomers and their role in AD, PD and neurodegenerative tauopathies.

·   Amyloid oligomers and annular protofibrils; Formation, toxicity and role in disease pathogenesis.

·   Immunotherapy for AD and PD and diabetes.

·   Early diagnostics of Alzheimer’s by measuring tau oligomer in biological fluids.

·   Screening for drug like molecules against different amyloid species.

·   Amyloid oligomers, structure and polymorphisms.

Other degenerative diseases:

·   Insulin and IAPP aggregation into toxic oligomers and their removal   immunotherapy.

·   Amyloidosis in human tissues and animal models, characterization and immunotherapy.

·   Prion oligomers formation, infectivity and their role in species variations.
