UTMB Health and The Ruth Kempner Endowment for Breast Cancer Screening, partners in providing free screening mammograms for uninsured women in our community, are pleased to announce the second annual UTMB Sunday Mammogram Program at the following locations and dates:
Sunday, Oct. 28, 2012: The mobile van will provide free screening mammograms for pre-registered uninsured women at St. Mary of the Miraculous Medal Catholic Church in Texas City, TX: 1604 9th Avenue N, Texas City, Texas 77590 from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Phone: (409)-948-8448 (This program will take place during Spanish and English mass and application forms are available in both Spanish and English.)
Sunday, Nov. 11, 2012: The mobile van will provide free screening mammograms for pre- registered uninsured women at Greater St. Matthews Baptist Church in Hitchcock, TX: 6333 Texas 6, Hitchcock, TX 77563 from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Phone: (409) 986-5453
Sunday, Nov. 18, 2012: The mobile van will provide free screening mammograms for pre- registered uninsured women at Mount Olive Missionary Baptist Church on Galveston Island: 3602 Sealy. Galveston, Texas 77550 from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Phone: (409) 762-0088
Although these events are being hosted at local churches, uninsured program participants DO NOT need to be members of these church congregations in order to receive a free screening mammogram.
However, participants will need to pre-register for the program and meet the following eligibility criteria:
(a). legal resident of Galveston county,
(b). uninsured (this also means that participants cannot have mammogram coverage through the Medicaid and/or Medicare healthcare system),
(c). between 40 and 64 years old,
(d). not currently pregnant,
(e). haven't received a mammogram in the last year,
(f). no personal history of breast cancer diagnosed in the last 5 years.
Applications may be obtained (and returned) to these church offices or either of the UTMB Breast Imaging Departments (Galveston Island and League City).
