UTMB observes National Nurses Week, May 6-12

GALVESTON, Texas - The University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston is joining hospitals throughout the country in observing National Nurses Week, May 6-12.

UTMB employs approximately 890 registered nurses in direct patient care. Although there are no public events scheduled, UTMB nurses will observe the week with a variety of activities, including poster exhibits, continuing education presentations and an ice-cream social. The theme of nurses week is "Nursing: A Profession and a Passion."

Karen Sexton, vice president and CEO of UTMB hospitals and clinics, said, "The Galveston community can take great pride in the commitment to quality and caring that our nurses bring to their work every day."
