Attorney, education advocate Dibrell dies
Galveston County Daily News (Internet / Print) 07/19/06 After remaining busy with community endeavors for most of his life, Charles Grainger Dibrell Jr. died in his sleep Monday morning. He was 95. Dibrell’s in-home caretaker checked on him about 6 a.m. Monday and found he was dead. Dibrell, son of longtime 56th State District Court Judge Charles G. Dibrell and father of County Court No. 2 Judge C.G. “Trey” Dibrell III, had last been seen alive about midnight, six hours earlier. Charles Grainger Dibrell Jr. was known as “Chick.” He lived in Galveston and balanced a law practice with involvement on many boards and community endeavors.His family has asked that in lieu of flowers, well-wishers make donations in “Chick” Dibrell’s name to the Dibrell Family Professorship at the University of Texas Medical Branch, or to another charity of the individual’s choice.
