Fig. 1. Sepia officinalis swimming. The figure was drawn from sketches taken of specimens at Brighton aquarium. The animal is gently propelling itself forwards by undulating waves which travel along the fins. The arms are in their normal position, with the tips close together. Fig. 2. In pursuit of a shrimp. The tentacles are in the act of being shot out from the tentacle pockets in which they normally lie. They come out together working like a pair of tongs.
