The CNNT Workshop, "Creating Cancer Care Teams" is now available on DVD. The DVD can be used by existing Cancer Support Groups in any Texas community.
The DVD comes with a Facilitator’s Guide to help the Program Coordinator at each location present the DVD to a group. A master set of PowerPoint presentations and handouts are included in the facilitators guide.
The workshop topics addressed:
- Information for patients including nutrition and exercise during and after cancer treatment, symptom management as well as emotional issues
- Information for the caregiver
- Transition planning
- Finding good resources on the internet and in the community
The patient and caregiver topics are presented by Dr. Billy U. Philips, Jr., a professor of Preventive Medicine and Community Health at the University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston. Dr. Philips has been a caregiver and knows the personal difficulties experienced by people battling cancer, including the need for nutritional support, firsthand. His expertise is in cancer prevention and control and he is a well-published author on the subject.
