Brief Description of Program with Teaching Activities Discussed
The three year program in Reproductive Endocrinology is designed to qualify candidates for Board certification in Reproductive Endocrinology. The program will provide advanced training in Reproductive Endocrinology and prepare the fellow for a career in academic medicine. Clinical experience in management of a wide range of Reproductive Endocrine problems will be gained under the supervision of the faculty. The program director has done an additional fellowship in Advanced Laparoscopic Surgery and does many advanced laparoscopic surgery cases in addition to infertility such as total laparoscopic hysterectomies, sacral colpopexies, and bladder suspensions. The program director is also a licensed attorney and publishes medical-legal articles with the fellows pertaining to emerging issues in Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility. The fellow will supervise the residents' Reproductive Endocrinology clinic in which a wide variety of endocrine patients are seen. The fellow will work in an active assisted Reproductive Technology Program. In the first year of the program, fellows will learn different laboratory methodologies and develop his/her area of laboratory research. Second year will be primarily laboratory research. The division has extensive research facilities and most of the projects are funded by NIH grants. Fellows will also attend and participate in a number of weekly teaching conferences in Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility. |
