If a student does not show a level of respect for your nursing staff's expertise, is that unprofessionalism or a lack of experience with other healthcare professions? If a student bumbles in a conversation with a long-time smoker, is that unprofessionalism or a lack of skills in difficult conversations about behavior change? If a student fails to recognize the cultural customs of your patients, is that unprofessionalism or a lack of knowledge?
