Robert J. Bulik, Ph.D.
Dr. Robert J. Bulik received his Ph.D. from the University of
Wisconsin, and has worked in the medical education field for the
past 15 years. He currently is a Professor in the Department of
Family Medicine at the University of Texas Medical Branch where he
holds an endowed professorship, and serves as the Associate Director
for the Office of Educational Development. He is also the Director
of the Scholars in Education program, a faculty development
initiative that prepares health science faculty for educational
leadership roles in the professions. Dr. Bulik is a member of both
the Academy of Master Teachers at UTMB and the University of Texas
Academy of Health Science Education. He has been honored as a Marie
Hall Scholar and a University of Texas Distinguished Teaching
Professor. Nationally, Dr. Bulik was a recipient of the Society of
Teachers of Family Medicine (STFM) national Innovative Program
Award. In the State of Texas, he has received the
Innovation in Medical Education Award
from
the University of Texas Academy of Health Science Education, and the
Regional Medical Education Project and Presidential
Curriculum Innovation Awards from the University of Texas
Medical Branch. Currently, Dr. Bulik serves as the co-Principal
Investigator on two federally funded grants (NIH and HRSA) and two
state funded projects, where he pursues his research interests in
telemedicine, the integration of technology into the curriculum, the
influence of narrative medicine on transformational learning, and
the changing role of faculty in medical education. He has also
served as an external reviewer for the National Institute of Health
(NIH), the Swiss National Science Foundation, and California State
University - San Marcos. Dr. Bulik has been invited to lecture at
international forums, presented and conducted workshops at national
and international conferences, and published in the medical
education, educational technology, and telemedicine literature. In
his spare time, he has trained for and completed 29 marathons along
with the Florida and the Arizona Ironman Triathlons. |
