Exciting, educational tours are provided to students to 9-12 grade students in groups no larger than 25-35.

Gross Anatomy:

See preserved body parts in jars dating from 1955-1994 and where medical students study cadavers in the historic Old Red Building, 3rd floor (age and science class type restriction)

Electron Microscope:

Experience how scientists look into the very depth of the cell to study its structure

Laboratory Bio-Safety Facility:

Learn about the importance of bio-safety in the hospital/research laboratory environment. See why different strategies are required to deal with distinct types of hazards.

Shriners Burn Hospital:

Learn about the different occupations involved in successful treatment and recovery from burns

Laser Laboratory:

Learn about the different types of lasers and their current uses in surgery (limited space)

Panel Discussion:

Representatives from each of the four schools come together for a discussion of what requirements are needed to gain entrance into UTMB schools

Skilled Nursing Laboratory:

Learn about the requirements for entering the School of Nursing and view assimilation of hospital rooms

UTMB Library, Blocker Collection:

View rare books dating from the end of the 14th century to the 20th century as well as images and artifacts including instruments and patent medicines, all an important part of the history of the health sciences.

Ronald McDonald House:

Tour the home where patient's families stay during a young patients recovery in the hospital

Biomechanics Laboratory:

Discover the world of joint, bone, tendon, and muscle movement. See and track the pressures and forces exerted on the human body.
