Participating students gain information in general biology, chemistry,
physical science, and basic laboratory safety techniques through a series
of fun hands-on laboratory exercises and problem-solving activities.
Example Activities include:
- Isolating DNA from plants
- Gel electrophoresis
- Anti-microbial effects of spices on bacteria
- Building a catapult and marble machine
- Effects of drugs on Daphnia; i.e., water fleas
All students are eligible to apply that are currently in the 7th
and 8th grade in any public or private school in the nine
Galveston County Independent School Districts
Students may apply for one of two half-day sessions;
a session is 4 weeks.
No charge for program participation.
Prior Camp I participants are not eligible to apply.
Registration Deadline: April 18, 2008
Session 1: June 2 - 27, 2008 from 1pm - 5pm or
Session 2: July 7 - August 1, 2008 from 1pm - 5pm
