Annual Regional Science Teachers Conference

Conference Information

UTMB's 9th Annual Regional Science Teachers Conference will be held Saturday, November 15, 2008. The conference is a one-day event held each year in the Fall to provide regional K-12th grade teachers with the opportunity to network and enhance their professional development. Leading educational speakers present workshops that have been recruited at the National Science Teachers Association Conferences and from across the United States. Topics range from hands-on, inquiry-based activities to a wide variety of professional development enrichment opportunities.

Objectives

Through sharing scientific knowledge, participants will:
  • Gain expertise in current trends of science education
  • Enhance science-teaching for science education

Audience

Kindergarten through 12th grade science teachers and administrators from public and private schools in Galveston County and surrounding districts are invited.

Purpose

The conference will provide science teachers with the opportunity to share ideas and concepts regarding the constantly changing world of science. This forum will enable educators to:
  • Learn new hands-on, inquiry-based methods of teaching science concepts.
  • Receive free science activity handouts and materials. Win free science education kits!
  • Obtain information about enrichment programs.
  • Network/Interface with other educators.
  • View leading edge resource materials and equipment offered by exhibitors.

Conference Fee

The fee for the conference is $25.00.

Directions

The conference is being held at the San Luis Resort, Spa and Conference Center.
 
From Houston, take Interstate 45 South to Galveston. Take the 61st Street Exit and turn right on 61st Street. Stay on 61st Street to Seawall Boulevard. Turn left at Seawall Boulevard. The San Luis Resort is located on the left at 53rd Street and Seawall Boulevard.
