Saturday Biomedical Science Academy
for 4th - 6th grade students

Fall 2013 Academy Dates

  1. Nov 9th
  2. Nov 23rd
  3. Dec 7th

Academy Information

The Saturday Biomedical Science Academy is offered by Educational Outreach. The goal of this program is to provide students with an enrichment experience to:
  1. Provide access to a wealth of basic research and clinical science information through hands-on experiences in chemistry, physics, and biology
  2. Stimulate student interest and enhance scientific knowledge
  3. Learn how creative, fun, and relevant science can be to everyday life

It is particularly important to target this program to this age group since studies have shown that student interest in science, especially in girls, significantly diminishes during these years. Thus, it is critical to provide enrichment opportunities to inspire these students to consider pursuing future science-related careers.

Some activities include:
  • Analyzing forensic evidence
  • Exploring chemistry
  • Investigating owl pellets and frogs
