Summer Science Camp I for 7th and 8th grade students

Camp Information

Participating students gain information in general biology, chemistry, physical science, and basic laboratory safety techniques through a series of fun hands-on laboratory exercises and problem-solving activities.
 
Example activities include:
  • DNA extraction and isolation
  • Gel electrophoresis
  • Effects of temperature on enzyme activity
  • Building a catapult and a cantilever
  • Solving mysteries using forensics techniques

Eligibility

Students must be currently enrolled in 7th or 8th grade, attending public or private school, in any of the nine Galveston County Independent School Districts. There is no charge for program participation. Prior Camp I participants are not eligible to apply.

Camp Dates

Students may apply for one of two half-day sessions; a session is 4 weeks.
 
Session 1: June 5 - July 2, 2009 from 8:00 am - 12:00 noon
- OR -
Session 2: July 6 - July 31, 2009 from 8:00 am - 12:00 noon
