STEM Quest Summer Camp II for 9th and 10th Grade Students

Camp Information

Investigative activities and problem-solving endeavors in fields such as biotechnology, bioengineering, nanotechnology and health sciences stimulate increased knowledge and skills in science, engineering, technology and math!
 
Participants will utilize sophisticated, state-of-the-art methods and equipment during problem-based activities. Techniques may include:
  • Restriction Endonuclease Digestion
  • PCR (polymerase chain reaction)/Gel electrophoresis/DNA fingerprinting
  • Bacterial transformation
  • Western blotting
  • And other STEM-related activities!!
Participants will complete an independent collaborative investigation during the last two weeks of the program utilizing laboratory skills they have acquired.

Eligibility

  • Participants must be currently enrolled in 9th or 10th grade and attending public/private/home school in any of the nine Galveston County Independent School Districts.
  • There is no charge for program participation.
  • New activities are planned! Prior Camp II participants may apply!

Camp Dates

Students may apply for one of two half-day sessions; each session is 4 weeks.
 
Session 1: June 4 - July 1, 2010 from 1:00 pm - 5:00 pm
- OR -
Session 2: July 5 - July 30, 2010 from 1:00 pm - 5:00 pm
