The Office of Institutional Effectiveness supports assessment activities throughout the university as part of our mission to assist with regional and program specific accreditation efforts as they relate to the educational mission of UTMB in accordance with the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACS-COC) Principles of Accreditation, Comprehensive Standard 3.3.1:

The institution identifies expected outcomes, assesses the extent to which it achieves these outcomes, and provides evidence of improvement based on analysis of the results in each of the following areas:
  • educational programs, to include student learning outcomes
  • administrative support services
  • academic and student support services
  • research within its mission, if appropriate
  • community/public service within its mission, if appropriate
  • The Office of Institutional Effectiveness facilitates this process and meets annually with program and/or unit directors to conduct a systematic review of the internal assessment plan/process and discuss the use of results. OIE uses WEAVEonlineŽ, a hosted web-based assessment management system, to assist areas (a login is required - contact OIE for more information).
