As director of marketing at the University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston, Chris Packard is responsible for developing strategic marketing plans for the institution, as well as ongoing management of the UTMB brand.
From 1998-2001, Packard served as a national marketing services manager for Aetna/Prudential HealthCare in Houston, Texas, where he supervised a staff of eleven responsible for the development of branded advertising, collateral materials and proposals for the western half of the United States.
From 1997–1998, Packard was the marketing manager for Apple Orthodontix, a Houston-based orthodontic business management service company serving 103 practices across the U.S. and Canada. His responsibilities included oversight of the organization’s advertising and branding strategies.
From 1992-1997, was the Advertising Copy Manager for Mosby, Inc. in St. Louis, the world’s largest health sciences publisher. In 1994, his division set a $31 million direct mail sales record.
Packard began his career in 1990 with the Smithsonian Institution in Washington D.C., where he served as a public affairs assistant in the Office of Public Affairs.
Packard is a member of the Association of American Medical Colleges, the International Association of Business Communicators, Society for Healthcare Strategy and Market Development, and the American Marketing Association. He earned his bachelor’s degree in public relations and his master’s degree in mass communication from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette. |
