The John P. McGovern Academy of Oslerian Medicine was founded to recognize physicians who provide highly compassionate care and to encourage the teaching and practice of such care to medical students. The John P. McGovern Academy of Oslerian Medicine was created in 2001 and provides endowments to William Osler Scholars. The Academy also has student societies which foster compassionate, scientifically sound patient-centered care.
