Dr. Walter McReynolds is a 1965 graduate of Rice University, Houston, Texas. He then entered the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, Texas, where he earned his Doctor of Medicine Degree. He continued his post graduate medical education with an internship at Hermann Hospital in Houston, then back to the University of Texas Medical Branch for residencies in General Surgery and Otolaryngology. Dr. McReynolds currently holds the position of Clinical Associate Professor in Otolaryngology at UTMB. Upon completion of his medical education in 1974, Dr. McReynolds joined the staff of Houston Ear, Nose and Throat Clinic, L.L.P., where he is a partner. He is Board Certified in Otorhinolaryngology, as well as Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. He is a Fellow in the American Academy of Otolaryngology and also the American College of Surgeons. He has served as a Clinical Associate Professor at UTMB - Galveston since 1974.
He is past Chairman of Otolaryngology Head and Neck Section of Memorial Hermann Southwest Hospital and past president of the Houston Otolaryngologic Society.
He currently serves as medical director, as well as Chairman of the Board, of Houston Ear Research Foundation, one of the largest cochlear implant centers in the nation for children and adults. Since 1983, G. Walter McReynolds, M.D., has performed approximately 1,000 cochlear implant surgeries at Memorial Hermann Southwest Hospital, through his affiliation with Houston Ear Research Foundation.
