Anteroinferior to posterosuperior inserting on mastoid tip; readily differentiated from the platysma by direction of its fibers.
Crossed inferior-to-posterior direction by greater auricular nerve and EJV immediately deep to platysma.
Posterior border represents posterior border of nodal levels II through IV.
