Marginal Mandibular Nerve
Located 1 cm in front of and below the angle of the mandible deep to superficial layer of deep cervical fascia enveloping submandibular gland and superficial to adventitia of anterior facial vein.
Preferred to identify nerve rather than ligating anterior facial vein low “to protect the nerve” can result in elevation of the prevascular and retrovascular lymph nodes. (1)
