Exits near jugular foramen via hypoglossal canal, passes under IJV and over ICA and ECA, loops deep and inferiorly to post. belly of digastric.
Surrounded by venous plexus, ranine veins.
Then under fascia of floor of submandibular triangle before entering the tongue.
