Bunnell - first primary anastomosis of facial nerve
Reapproximate without tension
Best to do within 72 hours, if not then within 30 days (maximal axoplasmic flow)
Use magnification (microscope or loupes)
Freshen nerve endings, place atraumatically epineural sutures of 8-0 nylon or smaller
