Need viable proximal nerve and distal elements of facial nerve
Greater auricular nerve - 6-8cm
Cervical plexus - (Baker) - up to 12cm
Sural nerve ᡄcm, separate surgical site
Place harvested nerve in lactated Ringer’s solution
Nerves are sutured similar to direct anastomosis
Both give some weakness and synkinesis
