Masseter Muscle Transfer

• First reported 1911

• Smaller muscle that provides less superior angulation of the corner of mouth

• Incise gingival mucosa along sulcus of mandible

• Isolate muscle, elevate off periosteum, detach inferolateral attachment, splint anterior edge into 2 slits, and suture to orbicularis muscle through subcutaneous tunnels
