OUA Mission Statement
University Advancement exists to provide leadership and assistance to the
UTMB community in order to preserve and enhance support for the institution
among its internal and external constituencies through expert and strategic
communications, marketing, relationship building, fund raising and
stewardship.
“Friends of UTMB Making Friends for UTMB”
The OUA Vision Statement
We in OUA endorse, communicate, advocate, involve others in, and secure
support for:
-
the fulfillment of UTMB’s core purpose: to excel in the generation,
dissemination and application of knowledge to better the health of society;
-
helping to secure UTMB’s standing as a leader in: scholarly teaching;
innovative scientific investigation; community
service and involvement;
-
health care that is compassionate, expert, accessible and respectful of the
individual.
OUA's
governing philosophy
OUA is a department that functions as a team, where success
is shared and celebrated, where personal and professional growth is valued
and supported, and in which each individual is appreciated for his or her
contributions and diverse perspectives.
When interacting with our internal and external constituencies, we strive to
always be professional, knowledgeable, discerning, dependable, responsive,
enthusiastic and expert in our respective fields.
Alumni, Friends, and Volunteer Relations:
We work to ensure that the level of involvement, perceived prestige, satisfaction and loyalty of
our alumni, friends and volunteer networks sets the benchmark for our peer
institutions.
Advancement Services:
We manage financial and information systems that are accessible and
that house, track and provide accurate information and timely reports to
support all University Advancement activities.
Development and Stewardship:
We provide a margin of excellence from private sources, placing
emphasis on securing endowed funds to support university priorities. Our
centralized-decentralized structure has high-quality, appropriately
aggressive, coordinated and successful fund-raising programs in the areas of
annual giving, major gifts and planned giving. We strive to be excellent stewards
of these funds and regularly involve and report to our contributors,
volunteers and alumni regarding the use of private funds.
Public Affairs:
We are the public voice of the University of Texas Medical Branch. We
promote understanding of UTMB's education, patient care, research, and
community service missions by telling our stories well to our patients,
employees, alumni, students, friends, and the world at large.
