Research Communications
The two-person Research Communications team
helps publicize the research enterprise at UTMB, both basic and clinical. To
accomplish this mission, the team conceives and edits
UTMB Quarterly magazine;
coordinates and facilitates interviews with faculty by local, regional and
national print and broadcast journalists; produces news releases and writes
stories that appear in Impact, the campus fortnightly newspaper; helps edit
and place op-ed essays by faculty and staff in local, regional, and national
periodicals; coordinates the Health Policy Lecture series; and undertakes
other activities in support of the research mission at UTMB (such as helping
draft communications plans or helping translate scientific achievements into
lay language) as necessary or as directed by the Executive Director for
Public Affairs and the Vice President for University Advancement.
