RESIDENT BENEFITS • A computer for each resident in the resident room. • A digital camera for use while in resident training program. • Ophthalmology Basic Clinical Science Course books (BCSC). • Educational Fund: $400 will be allocated to each resident’s Resident Education Account (REA). REA funds are used for medical books, subscriptions, or approved professional expenses. OKAP examination: taken annually, $250 fee is paid by the department. Basic Clinical Science Course: is taken in the PGY-2 year, $1800 fee is paid by the department. Physician Training Permit: All residents must a Physician Training Permit. The department will reimburse for the permit fee. Vacation, Sick Leave, Meeting Time Vacation: 15 days of paid vacation (3 weeks) per year • USMLE Examination: administrative leave allowed • Meeting Time: 5 working days during the PGY-4 year • Additional meeting time granted if presenting at meetings Insurance and Salaries: Current information can be found by visiting the UTMB Graduate Medical Education website at www.utmb.edu/gme/ Subsidized Parking UTMB Alumni Field House: Residents can enjoy the UTMB Alumni Field House for less than $150 per year. UTMB Child care center: The UTMB Child Care Center, located at the northeast corner of 13th and Market streets provides quality child care for the children of UTMB employees. Children between the ages of 6 weeks and 5 years are eligible to attend. |
