
Manuj Kapur, MD
Ophthalmologist Dr. Manuj Kapur is trained in all aspects of cataracts, cornea, external disease, uveitis and refractive surgery.
An experienced cataract surgeon, he specializes in complex cataract and corneal cases, including evaluating and correcting cataract surgeries, secondary intraocular lens implants and sutured intraocular lenses for patients who have dislocated lenses. He also performs VISX® surgeries and corneal transplants, including keratoprosthesis surgeries. Keratoprosthesis surgery is typically designed for patients who have had multiple corneal surgeries that have not worked. He receives referrals for special cases from around the greater Houston/Galveston area and beyond.
Dr. Kapur is experienced in surgical reconstruction of the iris due to genetic disease or damage. He also treats patients with uveitis and works closely with subspecialists on immuno-modulation therapy.
As a member of the faculty at UTMB Health Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences, he trains residents in cataract and corneal surgery.
He also has particular interests in LASIK and PRK treatment of refractive errors.
Dr. Kapur earned his medical degree from the Texas A&M University Health Science Center College of Medicine in College Station and completed his residency at The University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston.
He was awarded a fellowship in cornea, external disease and refractive surgery from the Dean McGee Eye Institute at University of Oklahoma, Oklahoma City.
He is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery and the Cornea Society. He is certified on the VISX laser and in the use of refractive intraocular lenses.
He is fluent in English, medical Spanish, Hindi and Urdu.
