Research Interests

My work focuses on domain III of the flavivirus envelope protein. One aspect of this work is the design of a domain III-based ELISA for improved diagnosis of mosquito-born flaviviruses. Another major focus is defining which residues of domain III in West Nile virus can sustain mutation without destroying the virus's replication. Finally, my work involves generating sera against various West Nile virus antibody escape mutants and characterizing the ability of this sera to neutralize different strains of West Nile virus with assorted mutations in domain III.
