Research Interests
My career goals in Pathology Education are driven by keen interests in the domains of digital imaging, pathology informatics and online learning. A current research project integrates these interests as a novel approach for delivering pathology educational material to educators and students. The many challenges involved with development of a quality digital repository for pathology images will greatly enhance my skills and understanding for practical pathology informatics delivery. Moreover, direct dialogue with users across the audience of undergraduate and graduate medical students, faculty, and researchers will most certainly lead to better insight as to the most beneficial means to address the routine needs for pathology education materials. As the concept for development of a digital pathology repository, based upon Xythos iSpace is a novel approach, and especially since many educational institutions are adopting Xythos (Blackboard) technology for their routine file sharing platform, reporting the results of this endeavor to an education technology forum (such as Innovations in Online Learning, Annual UT Systems Conference) is sure to generate enlightening discussion as well as afford scholarly benefit.
