Curriculum
The fundamental goal of the program is to blend opportunities for scholarly learning with practical experience in pathology. The structure of the curriculum is designed to respond to concepts outlined by recent residency graduates:
- flexibility with increased resident input for designing individual curricula;
- more opportunity to assume substantial responsibility during training;
- practical experience in laboratory administration and management;
- increased program coordination so that residents completing the program can practice pathology without additional years of subspecialty training;
- didactic instruction to ensure comprehensive coverage;
- more opportunities to obtain special competence in pathology subspecialties using fellowship-style assignments.
