Pathology Clinical Services
Pathology Clinical Services (PCS) provide services in all aspects of the practice of pathology. PCS include the following divisions: Autopsy, Blood Bank, Clinical Chemistry, Clinical Microbiology, Cytogenetics, Cytopathology, Hematopathology, Laboratory Information Services, Molecular Diagnostics, Sample Management, Surgical Pathology (including Histology and Electron Miscroscopy), and Tissue Antigen Laboratory. These divisions are staffed by a well-trained technical team and supervised by certified pathologists, most with subspecialty training and experience. PCS serves inpatients and an extensive variety of outpatient clinics. In addition, PCS supports an enormous outreach program, covering Texas Department of Criminal Justice Units, which stretch several hundred miles from Galveston. The technical team consists of approximately 265 employees performing more than 4 million tests per year. In partnership with institutional and community leaders, PCS has instituted a Blood Collection Program to ensure the adequacy of blood components for our patients.
