Clinical Chemistry
The Division of Clinical Chemistry is comprised of 3 main sections: ER/Automated High Volume Laboratory, Special Procedures/Toxicology Laboratory, and ABG Satellite Laboratories/POCT. Most sections provide 24 hours a day service for the patientcare requirements in the UTMB Health System. The division also has administrative and technical oversight for the Clients Services and Outreach Laboratory Services in the Department of Pathology. The test menu includes more than 200 test items with an annual volume in excess of 2.5 million tests. The Clinical Chemistry Laboratories have a core staff of 48 FTEs. In addition, we have 4 doctorate level faculty members who are responsible for the scientific, clinical, technical and administrative direction of the division. The fifth doctoral position is a fellow in an accredited postdoctoral training program.
