My current research interests focus on the study of the pharmacology of blood feeding arthropod saliva, the immunology of the blood feeding arthropod-host interface, and factors in the saliva of hematophagous arthropods that facilitate transmission of infectious diseases. Knowledge obtained through the use of biochemistry, molecular biology, proteomics, genomics, and immunological analysis can then be applied to the development of vaccines for more effective control of vector and vector-borne diseases.
