UTMB Department of Pediatrics & Children's Hospital
Established in 1890, UTMB Children’s Hospital is the oldest pediatric care unit in Texas. A year later, the medical college would open, becoming also the first medical school in Texas.
Our reputation of excellent care, advanced research into diseases and disorders affecting children, and the education of some of the best doctors in Texas and across the country is part of our history.
The Department of Pediatrics is the fourth largest department in the School of Medicine with 79 faculty and 97 staff who support the clinical, educational and research missions.
The Department of Pediatrics is dedicated to understanding and promoting optimal child health and function.
