This service provides comprehensive management of children with physical and neurological disabilities that are expected to be chronic in nature. The team includes a pediatrician, a pediatric nurse practitioner, physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy, pediatric dietitian, school liaison and a social worker. The team aims to provide coordination of multiple specialists and the child’s primary care physician or medical home. Telemedicine clinics are offered in some areas. |

The hospitalist faculty are available throughout the day to oversee care, to be directly accountable for ward activities, to interact with the nursing and ancillary staff, and to conduct quality improvement meetings. These doctors facilitate admissions, keep the primary care doctor apprised of the progress the child is making and are availabe to answer parents' questions. Hospitalists provide care for children with common medical problems who need to be hospitalized. |
