Pediatric Clerkship

Clerkship Director: Judith L. Rowen, M.D.

The goal of the Pediatric clinical experience is to teach students to develop the basic skills required to provide medical care of infants, children, and adolescents, and to establish a foundation for further training in pediatrics.

Students learn to appreciate the influence of growth and development on children, by experiencing first hand how the maturation process affects the diagnosis and management of illness and how it influences general well being.

Since children are not responsible for their own health care, students also learn how to evaluate the family unit, parenting skills and the home environment as part of the child’s total health evaluation. For more information about the Pediatric Clerkship, contact:
